Responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the agency and carrying out valuations on a wide selection of properties within North Yorkshire.

The driving force behind the business, Matthew’s absolute passion for property, creative thinking and straight-talking approach are one of the reasons that Verity Frearson are so successful.

He started out in the estate agency business at the age of 18 (that’s a LOT of experience!) and hasn’t looked back!

Married to Nicola, they live in Harrogate with their son Henry and 2 dogs Barney & Pickles. He says that his 2 obsessions in life begin with H – Henry & Houses!

Everyone knows that he has terrible taste in music, particularly cheesy love songs, especially Westlife! Not everyone knows that his nickname a kid was Chippy as his Mum and Dad owned a fish & Chip shop!

Although he has ‘officially’ worked in property for 20 years, his training actually started when he was 8 years old. James’ dad Martin used to run Verity Frearson and James would often be dragged along to property inspections to hold the end of the tape measure!

James originally worked in commercial property in Leeds, qualifying as a chartered surveyor in 2008 and moving to Verity Frearson in 2009.

James spends his days managing property sales and meeting clients to carry out valuations of their properties. He is also responsible for conducting professional RICS valuations needed for formal reports such as mortgage lending, probate or court proceedings.

Outside work, his 3 young boys, wife and dog keep him pretty busy. He’s a keen runner (with three kids that’s no surprise!) and has completed quite a few marathons and triathlons.

He used to work in a winery in Australia, is a whizz at making pizzas and can play the drums!

Paula is responsible for our fast paced and lively sales office. She has over 25 years’ experience in customer service and office management. Prior to joining Verity Frearson, nearly 10 years ago, she was manager at a veterinary practice.

Everyone knows that Paula is a total workaholic! She’s great at her job and loves her co-workers, who (in her words) bring ‘laughter and craziness’ to each and every day. Her background working in a Vets was probably a great foundation to furnish her with the necessary skills to keep those co-workers in check!

When she’s not working, she loves to travel and a weekend break is the best way to encourage her to take a day or two off work! She supports Leeds United and is a mad Formula 1 fan. Meeting Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone was a real highlight. She has a mad dog called Luna, can’t cook to save her life and is partial to a prosecco… or two!

Megan began her Estate Agency career with an apprenticeship nearly 10 years ago. After working locally with another agency, Megan joined the VF Sales team in 2021.  She has always been interested in property and especially loves a ‘fixer upper’! She is super smiley and always willing to go the extra mile!

Megan is a self-confessed chocoholic and allegedly makes the best brownies in Harrogate*. She adores her cat Smokey and spends an inordinate amount of time watching cat videos on the internet! She is officially Lady Megan Sibson after her partner bought her a souvenir plot of Scottish land that came with the title.

Legend has it that she can do ‘the worm’ breakdancing move but this could be an urban myth as nobody has ever seen her do it!

Becky started working in Estate Agency 5 years ago. Prior to this she worked in Childcare which has given her the skills and resilience to be a great sales negotiator! She loves the fast-paced environment and the fact that every day is different. The team would (politely) say that she’s bubbly but what we all really mean is ‘loud’.

Outside of work, Becky absolutely dotes on her dachshunds Winnie & Wilma, loves watching Barnsley FC and can be found dressed head to toe in black at a rock festival. Her favourite band is Massive Wagons, she also has a fascination with Sharks.

Six years ago, after deciding that working in property would be really interesting, Danielle approached Matt & James to ask for a job. She definitely made the right decision and says that her job is certainly never boring! She loves building relationships with her clients and thinks that the moment when you hand someone the keys to their new home is a fabulous feeling!

Danielle lives in Harrogate with her husband and 2 Chihuahuas. She loves to travel and really enjoys visiting new places, Mauritius has been her favourite destination so far. Being half Spanish, Danielle visits her family in Spain as often as she can and admits that it’s rather shameful that she can’t speak very good Spanish!

Joining the team in 2021 straight from his A-Levels, Josh is enjoying learning about all aspects of Estate Agency. He loves dealing with people but isn’t a fan of spreadsheets. He loves that working for VF isn’t like a normal job and as well as selling houses he could be called upon to deliver mince pies, take part in a charity fun run or dress up as a teddy bear! A good sport who is happy to get stuck in and make a fool of himself.

Josh is the self-proclaimed ‘eye-candy’ of the office. His passions are Leeds United, beer and designer clothes. He likes to tell the team, on a regular basis, that we’ll all be working for him one day.

With 20 years sales experience, Vicky started her career in IT before moving into Estate Agency 10 years ago. She joined the Verity Frearson team in 2021. Vicky is a super positive person, always smiling and genuinely loves her job.

A total sun-worshipper and ridiculously accident prone… How on earth does anyone manage to burn their nose on the oven!? Family and friends mean the absolute world to Vicky. She loves walking Frankie the dog and drinking Rosé wine (not at the same time!).

Joining Team VF in 2022 with over 25 Years of Sales and Marketing experience and a love of architecture, property and interiors, this is Lyndsay’s ideal job! She loves that fact that no two days are the same. Always up for a challenge although she can never quite predict what ‘crazy idea’ Matt will throw at her next!

A people person, lover of Sauvignon Blanc and 80’s music. She has Bronze medals in Latin American and Ballroom dancing, has completed 2 ultra-marathons and her specialist subject on Mastermind would be the Rocky movies.

Caroline has worked in the property industry for over 30 years, joining Verity Frearson 5 years ago as our first dedicated Sales Progressor. Her wealth of knowledge and experience mean that she is the perfect person to guide our clients through the challenges of buying or selling a house. Agreeing a sale is just the first part of the process and there’s lots to do after that to ensure the smooth exchange and completion of the sale. Her cool head and psychology degree come in very handy!

Caroline loves cake, ABBA and Marvel films. Fun fact… Many years ago, while working in Singapore as Associate Director for a property company, she used to be their Property Industry spokesperson for Singapore TV!

Victoria joined the team in 2022 as a sales progressor after working for another local agent for 10 years. Prior to this Victoria was a lawyer working in the North West of England until she returned to Harrogate to be closer to family. As well as her extensive estate agency experience, a law degree is pretty useful when ensuring the smooth journey from agreeing a house sale to its successful completion.

Victoria has appeared in Hello Magazine, can touch her nose with her tongue and makes a mean Crab Linguine.  She may look all sweetness and light, but you’d be ill advised to mess with Victoria. Not only has she survived a peacock attack and being chased by a Komodo Dragon… she once saved her friend from a knife wielding assailant in Honduras!

Sally came up VF to ‘help out’ temporarily with house viewings nearly 5 years ago and loved it so much that she never left!

Her prior work history is all based around food. As well as being a cake decorator for Bettys, she used to work as a food technician and was responsible for developing new flavours of crisps!

Sally loves her job saying the best bit is meeting and chatting to new people and the worst bit is Harrogate traffic! She loves walks at the coast, is obsessed with James Martin and can drive a tractor.

There’s is never a dull moment when Sally is around. She is super bubbly, full of fun and could literally talk the hind legs off a donkey!

Twin brother of Matthew, David joined the VF team 10 years ago from a background in financial services. David is responsible for conducting viewings of our properties for sale and to let.  He has a wealth of knowledge of the Harrogate housing market with an in-depth understanding of the house buying and selling process.

David makes it very clear that he’s younger than Matthew, by 10 minutes, and likes to tell everyone that he’s the best-looking! He is a mad Manchester United fan, enjoys going to the gym and has a house rabbit called Gizmo. David absolutely loves crisps and, surprisingly, despite being a vegetarian, his favourite flavour is Smoky Bacon!

Kelly is Verity Frearsons longest serving member of staff, and practically part of the furniture, after joining the team 15 years ago! She is responsible for the day to day running of our busy lettings department. Kelly is Mrs Organised, she loves planning and is never happier than when she writing (and crossing things off) a list! She does everything at 100 miles an hour – including talk! It’s a good job she’s predominantly office based as it took her 8 attempts to pass her driving test!

Kelly is married to her childhood sweetheart Paul who she has been with since she was 16 years old! She is a total coffee junkie and says that she mainly spends her spare time cooking and cleaning and ferrying her gymnastics-mad daughter to competitions – Don’t worry though, she did pass her driving test eventually!

Bernie joined Verity Frearson 5 years ago following a career background in quality control and administrative management. She is involved in all aspects of the lettings process and loves the fact that every day is different.

She lives in Harrogate with her partner and 2 cats, Jasper and Tilly. Bernie has a fear of flying and has seen Billy Ocean in concert 8 times. She tells everyone that she had terribly back luck after her house has previously flooded and been struck by lightning! She once won a Rod Stewart CD from Virgin radio though so she can’t be that unlucky!

Richard joined the team in 2022 with 8 years Estate Agency and Lettings experience under his belt. Prior to that Richard had worked in a financial services background. He has a keen interest in property and really enjoys helping landlords make the most of their investments.

Outside of work, Richard enjoys going to the gym, riding his mountain bike and watching films – Point Break being his favourite. He’s partial to a pint of Guinness, likes to travel and when on holiday enjoys taking part in water sports – Maybe he thinks he’s Johnny Utah*!

*Keanu Reeves in Point Break for those born after 1990!

Before joining Verity Frearson in 2021, Nicola worked for a contract caterers managing procurement for over 400 schools. She mainly spends her time dealing with the maintenance of our managed rental properties. As well as routine checks and repairs, if anything goes wrong, Nicola is there with her logical and calm approach to get things sorted.

Nicola is known for always being cold. The radiator in her office is permanently set to high and could be singlehandedly responsible for climate change.

Nicola spends her time out of work ferrying her daughter to horse-riding shows and competitions. She gets up at 5.30am every day to get to the stables and attend to the horses – the early starts could explains her ridiculously excessive coffee consumption… she had been known to drink a staggering 20 cups a day!
